To better serve children who stutter

their families our therapy addresses:
Teaching skills to successfully
manage stuttering.
Reducing the effect stuttering may have on a young person’s life.
Developing communication skills and changing attitudes.
Increasing self-confidence about speaking, as well as instilling a sense
of empowerment.
Involving parents and family members in the therapy process.
Reaching out to families, friends and teachers through education and
counseling.
ABOUT
US
Lee Caggiano, M.A., CCC-SLP (Board Recognized Fluency
Specialist and Mentor) in private practice treating children, adolescents
and adults who stutter. She is the parent of a son who stutters and Co-founder
\ Director of FRIENDS —
the Association for Young People Who Stutter. Friends, is an nationwide
support group for young people who stutter, their families and clinicians.
She has developed/coordinated workshops for children who stutter, families
and professionals for the many years, and presented at local and national
conferences. She is an adjunct professor at New York University and Long
Island University-C.W.Post, teaching graduate level courses in stuttering.
Steffi Schopick, MA-CF
graduated from Long Island University-C.W. Post, with her Masters degree
in Speech-Language Pathology. She is working as a clinical fellow in private
practice treating preschoolers who stutter, as well as children who present
with articulation, phonological and language delays. She has facilitated
workshops for children who stutter at the FRIENDS Convention. She also
holds a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from NYU, and worked
as a Child Life Specialist at Schneider Children’s Hospital before
pursuing a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
WHAT IS A BOARD RECOGNIZED SPECIALIST?
Board Recognized Specialists in Fluency Disorders are individuals who
have demonstrated a high level of clinical expertise in treating fluency
disorders, advanced knowledge, and a commitment to serving people with
fluency disorders. They have submitted their credentials for review and
approval by a Board of peers. This Specialty Recognition Program is an
approved program of The American Speech-Language and Hearing Association
(ASHA). |
